In a very pleasant setting at the Avari Towers,  Canada Pakistan Business Council (CPBC) hosted a business breakfast in Karachi this morning for a group of Pakistani businessmen and professionals who were addressed by Ms. Wendy Gilmour the Canadian High Commissioner in Pakistan.

Samir Dossal, President CPBC,  highlighted the success of the recent CPBC ICT Delegation which has opened further avenues of collaboration. He thanked Senator Akram Wali Muhammad, Chairman of CPG Foreign Relations Council and Mr. Azfar Ahsan, Founder of CPG for the ongoing support to CPBC.

Mr. Dossal thanked the High Commissioner and her Trade Team for their interactive engagement in Pakistan. Invitees included Shahab Zubeiri, Business Recorder, Syed Mubashir Imam, CEO, ChannelTek Enterprises,  Imran Ahmad, CNN/Adspacesales Khalid Awan, Chair TCS & Head of Canada Pakistan Business Council Secretariat in Pakistan, Ilyas Ahmed & Salim Chapra of S.I.S. Engineering Associates, Bilal Mahmood of Contour Software, Anjum Nisar, KCCI, Ms. Jehan Ara of P@SHA, Dr. Imran Jofa, Shahjahan Chaudhry, CEO, National Incubation Center, Karachi, Amer Pasha, Masoor Syed, Volunteers Association of Pakistan, Hamza Hashmi, CEO, Terrabiz, Ms. Shaheen Salahuddin, Amna Syed, and others.

In her introductory remarks, the High Commissioner talked about the strong ties between the two countries. There is over $1 billion in two-way trade between Canada and Pakistan.  Oilseeds are one of the leading commodities imported by Pakistan. In recent years, there have increased activity in the field of information technology where several Canadian companies have invested in Pakistani startups. One of the leading Canadian IT companies already has a significant footprint with over 600 employees in Pakistan. She also emphasized the growth potential that exists in the areas of education, certification, and trade.  Engaging with the Pakistani youth is also one of the focal points of the High Commission.

 

 

 

 

Senator Akram Wali Muhammad, Chairman, Corporate Pakistan Group Foreign Relations Council

On behalf of Senator Akram Wali Muhammad, Chairman Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG)Foreign Relations Council, was the co-host of the event, Mr. Majyd Aziz, Head of Pakistan Employers Federation spoke about how CPG Foreign Relations Council is actively engaging with heads of foreign missions in Pakistan and making them more accessible to the Pakistani business community.

Samir Dossal thanked Chairman CPG Foreign Relations Council, Mr. Akram Wali Muhammad, for his dynamic leadership role.

Mr. Khalid Awan, Chairman of TCS, who also heads the CPBC Secretariat in Pakistan. He assured the High Commissioner of complete support by CPBC and TCS in promoting bilateral Trade between Canada & Pakistan. He thanked the High Commissioner and the guests for their participation in the interactive session.

The Canada Pakistan Business Council facilitates business activity between two countries and acts as a bridge between those interested in establishing connections with their counterparts.
