CEO of broadcast station Saaz O Awaz, she and her husband moved to Canada in 1995. Arifa landed a job as an insurance agent and was successful in her profession. Arifa holds a bachelor in Botany and Chemistry and a Masters in Special Education from Pakistan.
1998 Arifa realized the importance of community building as an immigrant, and finding a sense of belonging. She found her voice through conducting a talk show on a local radio station. Arifa has been utilizing the platform for advocating a sense of togetherness, discipline, unity and commitment amongst the South Asian community mostly through Urdu and Punjabi programs.
She provides a forum for disciplined and non-judgmental discussions around topics that cover a full spectrum of immigrant’s lives, including strengthening of families, challenges faced by youth, cultivation of civic responsibility, the need to respect the environment … the list goes on.
Moreover, Arifa has been a beacon of strength and optimism. Her dynamic personality, conservative charm and humbleness, conviction in her voice and determination in her eyes continue to serve hundreds and thousands of South Asians to achieve strength, confidence, focus, solace and hope.
