Recently, the CPBC hosted Michael Danagher of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) at a lunch meeting held at the Richmond Hill Country Club.

The purpose of the April luncheon was to share views on commercial relations between Canada and Pakistan, particularly as it relates to the ongoing activities the CPBC is pursuing in promoting trade and bilateral ties between the two nations.

Mr Danagher, who is Director for South, Southeast Asia and Oceania Commercial Relations (GSC) at DFATD spoke in detail about his visit to Islamabad in January. He also expressed the importance of a bi-lateral investment protection agreement with Pakistan and a structure for trade policy. He outlined some of the success stories relating to Canadian lumber being exported to Pakistan and the draw of many Pakistan companies to the PDAC (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada) event in March 2014. Mr. Danagher also notified everyone that CIDA is now part of the DFATD.
